INTRODUCTION OF SMART HIGHWAY TEST BED AND TEST RESULTS

SMART highway is a national R&D project which started in 2007 and test bed for thisproject has performed since 2013. Test bed located from Seoul T.G. to SuwonI.C.(11km/6~8 lanes) on Gyeongbu expressway.Test bed has been operated to correspond for international standards and to induce thedevelopment of various applications. To this end, various technologies were installed onthe test bed such as SMART-I(automatic accident detection system), road informationdetection radar, WAVE road side equipment, SMART terminals, WAVE tolling.After constructing the test bed, users who install SMART terminal in their car can beoffered safety services throughout V2I and V2V of WAVE communication system.It is expected to prevent from car accidents and traffic volume concentration by providingsafety services and vehicle travel information to users.Finally, large-scale demonstrations will be performed for people on the test bed and a 24-hour operation.
