Strategy for Specifying QoS Management Policies on the Multicommunicative Education Project

Policy-based management of network resources has become an important research area in order to cope with the complexity of management of distributed heterogeneous systems. Policies exist at different levels of abstraction and a transformation process is needed to translate high-level policies, into policies which can be implemented in a system. This paper proposes a mapping strategy between two main approaches to producing a unified model for integrating users, applications, and networking services in a policy-based network management system. These approaches are: A high-level Policy Specification Language (Ponder) and an Extensible Policy Information Model (IETF). This project also comments on the need for models that maximise the benefits of e-Education for regions and persons that are not directly benefited at this time. The project also describes the Multicommunicative Education at Universidad Anahuac del Sur in Mexico and show how Quality of Service Management Policies, specified using the Ponder policy language developed at Imperial College in London can be applied in this environment.
