Polymer polyetherketone doped with a novel nonlinear optical chromophore 3-( 1, 1-dicyanothenyl)-1-phenyl-4,5-dihydro- 1H-pryazole (DCNP), the optimal poling temperature were determined by using the Maker fringe method through in-situ second harmonic generation (SHG) probing. Linear electro-optical coefficient of the poled polymer films was measured by a new simple interferometeric method, it has good thermal stability and low optical transmission losses for fundamental mode. The polymeric single-mode rib waveguide was made and Mach-Zehnder interference electro-optic waveguide switch for optical communication based on self-imaging Multi-Mode interference has been designed.
