摘要

In this paper we consider the role of abstract models in software development. A broad class of abstract models includes all models that are domain oriented rather than depictions of a given physical system and its implementation (e.g., informal models outlined during requirements generation, business process models, domain models, analysis models, and conceptual models.) When developing software for the fast growing, fast changing and networked businesses, reusability is inevitable due to demands for swift projects completion. In this context, abstract models can play a novel role. We posit that abstract models turn out to be repositories of knowledge about modeled systems rather than 'used only once' temporal models of the traditional software development methodologies.
