The ATLAS detector will operate at the LHC proton-proton collider. A liquid Argon electromagnetic calorimeter with accordion shape has been chosen by the collaboration. Both prototype and production modules of the barrel and the end-cap have been exposed to electron and muon beams at CERN during the last three years. The results of the barrel prototype modules tests as well as a review of the requested physics performances are presented.
