,,Service by e-Contract' - a security model for authentication, access control and online subscription management in multi-service-multi-provider architectures

The rapid development of the Internet and cellular communications networks in the last decade has enabled companies and organizations around the world to electronically integrate their customers and business partners into their business processes. New innovative electronic services have been developed and deployed, allowing customers to access them independently of their current geographical location. The business models allowing these new ways of distributed information processing require new authentication and access control schemes, because they comprise many different interacting business entities whereby each of them may possess its own administrative security domain. This results in the fact that security in such kind of distributed architectures (we call them multi-service-multi-provider architectures) cannot be administered in a centralized way. This paper describes a PKI-based security model for authentication, access control and online subscription management for use in multi-service-multi-provider architectures.
