BDD development has undergone an important change since Internet growing support. The capacity to share great amounts of information at world level is a fact and a necessity of the market. When data volumes are composed of images -which are to be transmitted to far distance places-, a series of new concepts arises, which, in turn, should be taken into account for the development of the applications. The aspects to be considered are the quantity of information to be transmitted, a priori larger than a conventional BD; the place from which the data is obtained; and the alternative channels from which the information could be recovered. Updated issues basically aim to find better techniques to recover distributed information, so as to fasten data transfer process. These recovery processes are related to more effective transmission mechanisms and to studies of distribution methods and information replication to minimize the costs of the data transference. In the present paper the results obtained from the prototype which studies a BD composed of images, approximately with an information of 20 Gbytes, and its possible distribution and replication alternatives, determined by image applications are presented.
