HUMAN RESOURCES DEGREE IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AT UNDERGRADUATE LEVEL: THE CASE OF BRAZIL

We live today in the so called Information Society. In this new economy the way how professionals are graduated in order to deal with Information Technology (IT) certainly is fundamental. This article presents and analyses how undergraduate IT education happens in Brazil, and how the graduates of those courses are put on the labour market. Our analysis is based on a research conducted with 30% of the graduates from one of the best and oldest IT courses in Brazil (over twenty years old). The results of the research suggest that the education in top grade universities is a plus for insertion on the labour market. But the research also points to the need of constant updating, to answer the challenges of the convulsive IT market.
