Automatic Generation Control (AGC) is an important technical measurement that maintains real-time balancing between power supply and demand ensures system frequency stability and secures operation. This paper states the employment of control performance criteria as well as the technical approach to promote the application of AGC technology in East China power system. The paper also summaries the progress of using AGC, and addresses the existing problems and presents the direction of improvement .
