摘要

This paper presents a general technique for the reliability assessment of non-Hertz contact problems represented by Finite Element (FE) Method. For the validated reliable FE contact mesh, a rotating multiple-disc clutch is numerically analyzed and related to the known analytical solution. Remarkable differences between the analytical and numerical output of the resulting contact shear forces and total frictional torque are found. By increasing or decreasing a number of discs in the clutch, these differences can be amplified or reduced, respectively.
