An Extensible and Scalable Software Architecture for theState of Florida Statewide ITS Software System

The State of Florida is in the process of developing a statewide software library system. Thegoal of the software library is to have a single software repository that provides an extensible,highly scalable environment that allows different implementations to deploy differentsoftware components while using the same software framework for deployment. The softwarebeing developed is a combination of reusing software from other states and the developmentof new software. The key architectural component being introduced in this project is asoftware framework that utilizes XML (Extensible Markup Language) to provide well-definedinterfaces that support the extensible and highly scalable concept. This paper describes thesoftware architecture and the associated implementation issues.
