In order to achieve a low carbon society, the introduction of EV (electric vehicle) thatconsiders the environment is being promoted. EV has a restriction for the distance which itcan drive by one battery charge, and under the present situation there are some problems suchas there being few installation places for the battery charge equipment. To promote theintroduction of EV, a highly convenient system corresponding to these problems andcharacteristics is required. This system includes an on-board unit (OBU), a navigation systemconnected to OBU, a roadside system, and a center system. This system also mounts functionsfor observing the amount of battery remainder and leading to surrounding battery chargestations while driving, user authentication and a charge settlement, and efficient batterycharge management. The experimental system was developed to confirm that the sense ofsecurity in the EV and the convenience and the amenity in the battery charge stations will beimproved. The effectiveness of the services and practical use of the system were confirmed.
