INTERNATIONAL COMPARISON ON HEAVY CONGESTION DEFINITIONS FOR FREEWAY BASED ON PSYCHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS

摘要

This paper analyzes heavy congestion definitions on freeway for providing useful trafficinformation through a psychological analysis of drivers' heavy congestion consciousness. Inthe previous paper, heavy congestion on freeway in Japan have been defined by using bothaverage speed and its duration time on the basis of drivers' consciousness as a result ofpsychological analysis. This paper further analyzes and compares the heavy congestiondefinitions for several Japanese inner-city expressway drivers and for English freewaydrivers .And this paper fully explores the regional difference of drivers' heavy congestionconsciousness for international argument and competition on ITS.
