摘要

This paper presents the limit state evaluation of the steel tower structures of a long-span suspension bridgeagainst large-scale earthquakes. A series of pushover analyses using two types of analytical models withshell and fiber elements and nonlinear dynamic analyses were conducted. The strength and damageprogress characteristics obtained from two analytical models and methods were compared. Based on theanalytical results, the acceptable ductility capacity for the steel tower structure exceeding the elastic limitwas proposed. Furthermore, the results from both the pushover analysis and nonlinear dynamic analysisshowed good agreement.
