Some biochemical parameters in a group of high school children from rural area of Banat region in Romania

Childhood is a life period characterized by the growth and development of the organism until the achievment of the final degree of the somato-psyhic development. Among key nutrients for growth and development one can mention the macrominerals calcium and magnesium. Atherosclerotic process begins in childhood with high blood cholesterol level and has both a genetic and environmental and component. But cholesterolemia is also influenced by Ca and Mg levels in the organism. The cross-sectional study was applied to a school children population in a rural area of Banat region in Romania. In a sample of 109 high school children we determined: calcemia, magnesemia, serum lipid fractions which showed variations related to age and gendre.
