The design of a communication processing service subsystem forinformation retrieval/delivery services

The paper presents the specifications of a communicationnprocessing service subsystem (CPSS) that provides information retrievalnand delivery services. The system structure of this CPSS is presentednand its main functional blocks are described. The network interfaces ofnthe CPSS are also specified, namely the PSTN interface for users and thenpacket switched data network (PSDN) interface for information providersn(IP). These network interfaces are designed to have a modular structurenthat can be upgraded easily for users at integrated services digitalnnetwork (ISDN) and IPs, in frame relay. The services that can benprovided by this system are discussed, namely information retrievalnservices, multicasting services, clipping services, media conversionnservices, and interactive data communication services. In the paper, thenconfiguration and operation of software for these services arendescribed. The advantages and effects that can be acquired from thisnsystem are also presented
