An intense broadband terahertz source based on a novel third order rectification process

The fundamental and second harmonic pulses from an ultrafast laser are mixed in a gaseous medium to generate an intense, (～ 1 kV cm~(-1)) broadband (～ 4 THz) pulse through a third order optical rectification process.
