Four 99mTc-radiopharmaceuticals (RPhs) were compared as radiotracers of inflammatoryrnprocess. The RPhs were divided in two groups according to their molecular weights andrnnature. One group included the human IgG and the ior t3 Moab (anti-CD3); another includedrnthe Ciprofloxacin and the DMSA. The RPhs were studied by different quality controls, andrnbiodistribution studies in an aseptic inflammatory model made by sterile Carrageenan and arnseptic model made by E. Coli. The results obtained in the reduction of the immunoglobulins withrn2-mercaptoethanol and sodium metabisulphite, demonstrated that both reducing agents werernequivalent, because the radiochemical purities were similar and independent of the immunoglobulins.rnThe biodistribution demonstrated a higher incorporation for the radiopharmaceuticals of highrnmolecular weight in the aseptic and septic process, and the highest values were obtained withrnthe 2-mercaptoethanol. The 99mTc (V)-DMSA is the only compound potentially able torndiscriminate between aseptic and septic foci.
