Analysis of Freeway Traffic Accidents in China

摘要

This paper uses 1085 traffic accidents that occurred on the Ji-qing Freeway from 1998 to 1999, and, based on the data collected and disposal and statistical analysis, the main factors influencing freeway traffic accidents are divided into within-system and out-of-system factors. These factors are analyzed, i.e. human, vehicle, road condition, weather, and traffic volume factors. The results are compared with those of foreign countries and other freeways in China. It is predicted that the accident rate will increase as the traffic volume increases. Moreover, some active and passive prevention measures aimed at various accident factors are suggested. By implementing these preventive measures, the accident rate might be greatly reduced.
