Is Thixomolding~(~R) in Your Future? Making the Change from Plastic to Metal

This paper has offered a very brief glimpse into Thixomolding~(~R) and the molding of magnesium alloys. Hopefully the reader has begun to establish an understanding that Thixomolding~(~R) is very similar to plastic injection-molding, and is an entirely viable forming process. The hazards of working with magnesium are overstated yet manageable. Given the advantages that magnesium offers as an engineering material in the manufacture of many modern products, plastics molders have a tremendous opportunity to expand their capabilities and add value for their customers, by adopting this new technology.
