Lawmakers need survivability to proceed with the complex task of reassessing liability principles and upgrading law and policy for the Information Age. Survivability princples will help lawyers by defining the risk management process and hardening systems. The former provides an accurate context in which to assess law and policy; the latter pro-vides structure and predictability for new legal re-lationships that will flow from technological advancements.
