A section of process pipe potentially contaminated with uranium hexafluoride was identified during work planning for deactivation and decommissioning of building 247-F at SRS. It was recognized that this material is very hazardous, with past accidental releases resulting in numerous injuries, including several fatalities. A containment system was designed and used to remove and dispose of the line safely without incident.
