South Pole Station New Power Plant Case Study

摘要

This paper presents a case study of the process and methodology undertaken for the design of the New Power Plant at the US South Pole Station, Antarctica. This case study covers electrical load determination, engine generator selection and configuration optimization, system redundancy, heat recovery optimization, and energy budget performance. This discussion includes specific engine generator topics such as site derating, electrical output, engine efficiencies, jacket water and exhaust gas heat recovery, and heat transfer fluid selection.
