The thermal conductivities of Pt wire, pitch fiber, stabilized fiber, and pitch-based carbon fibers graphitized at six different temperatures have been measured by using the steady-state short-hot-wire method. The main conclusions are as follows: 1. The thermal conductivity greatly increases as an increase in graphitization temperature, and even several hundred times when the graphitization temperature is changed from 700℃ to 3000℃. 2. Although it is necessary to know the emissivity of test fiber when the present method is used to measure the thermal conductivity of test fiber, the error due to the uncertainty of emissivity of test fiber gradually decreases as the thermal conductivity of test fiber increases. Therefore, the present method is more effective for measuring those fibers with high thermal conductivity.
