Evaporation is an economical way to dispose of oil and gas produced water in warm, arid climates. During colder seasons, it is not as effective. The freeze-thaw-evaporation (FTE~direct R) process couples freezing with evaporation. By combining these natural processes, produced water can be treated economically on a year-round basis.
