As previously, this paper merely reflects the current state of research, rather than outlining solutions. However, the fundamental question needs to be raised if the approach of the proposed test method is actually appropriate as it deliberately generates a certain degree of saturation that may never occur in reality. The author of this paper is also aware of a case where a concrete exposed to XF2 conditions in accordance with the standard reveals a marked frost damage that should not occur under these conditions. This highly complex issue links the parameters of action and resistance to each other and thus raises many questions that have been answered only to an insufficient extent so far.Therefore further research is needed in this area.
