Perceptions of Chinese EFL learnerson communication difficulties and communicative strategiesin use in the Australian context

This paper reports on the results of an investigation into the perceptions held by arngroup of Chinese EFL learners, who currently studying in Australian tertiaryrninstitutions, on communication difficulties and communicative strategies they havernemployed in Australian academic and casual contexts. The aim of the study is tornpresent a Chinese perspective of the issue being investigated. In particular, thernsignificance of teaching communicative strategies to Chinese learners of English isrnproposed.
