Periodic field measurements and surveys often result in anrnabundance of data that needs to be analyzed to assist inrnoptimizing the field production. Without a proper approach tornmanaging and interpreting the data, valuable information thatrnmay be realized from the data can easily be overlooked.rnThis paper presents the design and application of anrnautomatic production monitoring system that can be set up onrna spreadsheet utilizing the spreadsheet’s data operation andrngraphical capabilities. The program can be used as the ‘firstrnpass’ screening tool to evaluate the production performance.rnBased on the historical production data incorporating the userspecifiedrncriteria, the current performance of each well isrncategorized as ‘normal’, ‘damaged’ or ‘under-performed’. Thernpotential production increases that may be realized by workingrnover candidates in a typical oil field can also be estimated.rnWith the innovative multi-scale plotting and field-widernmapping techniques, the program can provide the reservoir orrnproduction engineers with a gross scoping tool for a high-levelrnoverview of both individual well behavior and field-scalernperformance.rnIn this paper, the design considerations of the program, thernadvantages and disadvantages of its features, and fieldrnexamples illustrating its applications are discussed.
