An attempt made to study the effect of geosynthetic inclusion on improvement of the loadsettlementrncharacteristics of two layered soil and to investigate different functions of geogrid and geotextile inrnreduction of the required thickness of subbase layer in unpaved roads. Bearing ratio tests were performed onrntwo layered soil including a granular soil layer at the top (subbase) and a cohesive soil placed at the bottomrn(subgrade) for unreinforced and reinforced samples and different thicknesses of subbase layer soil. Therntests were conducted for both unsoaked and soaked conditions. The reinforcing element was placed on therninterface of two layers to study the separation effect of geosynthetics. The results show an increase in strengthrnof reinforced specimen in comparison with unreinforced soil sample. At unsoaked condition utilization ofrngeogrid results more considerable increase in bearing ratio rather than geotextile. The effect of geotextilerninclusion increases by soakage of sample.
