摘要

The 2008 Wenchuan (M8.0) earthquake struck Sichuan province of China, causing hundreds ofrnthousands of deaths and injuries, and great loss of properties. More than 45000 landslides were triggered byrnthis quake, causing a big portion of the casualties directly. We made detailed investigations of some catastrophicrnlandslides after the quake. In this report, two long-traveled landslides occurring in Xiejiadian area inrnPengzhou city and Donghekou area in Qingchuan County are described. Basing on the field investigation andrnlaboratory undrained shear tests on the samples from the fields, the possible mechanisms of initiation andrnmovement for these two landslides were examined.
