摘要

In this paper the authors discuss the accumulated incrementalrnchanges fostered by IT and how they change campus culture andrnlife for all members of the campus community. This presentationrnis a user-centered perspective looking not at how infrastructurernand resources have changed, but rather how IT changes make arndifferences (positive or negative) in teaching, learning, workingrnand living on campus. A better understanding of the impact UCCsrn(University Computing Centers) have on all aspects of campusrnlife can improve planning and training. This challenge arisesrnfrom the ubiquitous presence of IT on campus affecting all aspectsrnof campus life – learning, teaching, working, and living.rnTechnology’s capability, availability, reliability, and ease of usernlead to changes in roles, responsibilities, expectations, access andrnrelationships among and between faculty, staff, students andrnadministrators. Computer center services play a significant role inrnidentifying and addressing these issues as users’ adoption orrnrejection of these resources is determined not by the power of therntechnology, but by user perceptions of how IT’s power facilitatesrntheir accomplishing their objectives.
