Abstract: In our earlier paper, we reported on the high-temperature capillary arc discharge (HTACD) operating as a source of soft x-ray radiation whose spectra were studied in the range to 15 nm. Recently, we have extended the range of spectroscopic study to 3 nm and found that when the discharge chamber is filled with air at pressure of 300 Pa practically, only the resonance line 4.027 nm of ion CV emerges from the source due to the longer wavelength emission cut-of in the air and the source turns out to be nearly monochromatic.!4
