The data presented above support the conclusion that the mass of the resilient sound mat has an effect on the impactsound performance of a floor-ceiling assembly. This mass needs to be taken into effect along with the previously knownand calculated effect of dynamic stiffness.Further research needs to be done to examine the effect of mass on a broader range of floor-ceiling assemblies,including those with poor performance at low frequencies. Also, some prediction method is needed to compensate formass of the resilient sound mat when calculations are done to predict its effectiveness in reducing impact sound.
