DUBLIN PORT TUNNEL ― CONSTRUCTION OF ONE OF EUROPE'S BIGGEST URBAN ROAD TUNNELS

The proposed paper will address specific transport, engineering, environmental and community related issues concerning the current construction and future operation of Europe's biggest urban road tunnel project ― the US$500m Dublin Port Tunnel. Situated in Ireland's capital, the three mile long, 40 ft diameter twin tunnel project encounters a range of ground conditions using TBM, Shield, Cut & Cover with diaphragm walling and major slope stabilisation and Multi-jacked pipe techniques. Where possible units of measurement are given in feet and inches.
