Modelling Sequential BIOsphere Systems under CLIMate Change for Radioactive Waste Disposal.Project BIOCLIM

The BIOCLIM project (ModellingrnSequential BIOsphere systems under CLIMate change forrnRadioactive Waste Disposal) is part of the EURATOMrnfifth European framework programme. The project wasrnlaunched in October 2000 for a three-year period. It isrncoordinated by ANDRA, the French national radioactivernwaste management agency. The project brings together arnnumber of European radioactive waste managementrnorganisations that have national responsibilities for thernsafe disposal of radioactive wastes, and several highlyrnexperienced climate research teams. Waste managementrnorganisations involved are: NIREX (UK), GRSrn(Germany), ENRESA (Spain), NRI (Czech Republic) andrnANDRA (France). Climate research teams involved are:rnLSCE (CEA/CNRS, France), CIEMAT (Spain), UPMETSIMMrn(Spain), UCL/ASTR (Belgium) and CRU (UEA,rnUK). The Environmental Agency for England and Walesrnprovides a regulatory perspective. The consulting companyrnEnviros Consulting (UK) assists ANDRA by contributingrnto both the administrative and scientific aspects of thernproject.
