Reservoir plays a more and more important role in water supply for city and countryside in our country. To ensure the water environmental safety, eutrophication evaluation for reservoir is the essential prerequisite on providing scientific proposals for pollution prevention. A new method for evaluating reservoir eutrophication is explored and is applied in this paper based on Chen Shouyu's fuzzy pattern recognition model. A large reservoir for water supply is taken as an object for carrying out the research on eutrophication evaluation. The evaluation takes total phosphorus (TP), total nitrogen (TN), transparency degree (SD), chlorophyll (Chla) and permanganate index (CODMn) total 5 indicators, and the evaluation period is divided in annual average, flood period, non-flood period respectively statistics based on the monitoring data of water quality of the reservoir in the period of 2004-2008. The results show that the proposed model for eutrophication evaluation is reasonable and satisfactory.
