In this study, we used electrical impedance tomography (EIT) to detect and image impedance changes for head phantom of Intracranial Hemorrhage (ICH). We modeled head phantoms of ICH with and without craniotomy respectively. Two models were made with realistic shape and nonuniform distribution of resisitivity for brain electrical impedance tomography. We injected animal blood to the head phantoms to simulate ICH process and monitored electrical impedance changes with EIT in real time. The results showed that, the increasing impedance region appeared according with the injecting blood region in head phantom without craniotomy, and the decreasing impedance region appeared in another head phantom. On one hand, our results indicated that EIT was sensitive to impedance changes caused by blood change. On the other hand, the changing trend showed in opposite direction between two head phantoms. This result might be associated with changes of intracranial pressure and intracranial space. EIT might have a wide application in early diagnosis and being an assisted treatment for ICH.
