摘要

On calculating the cylindrical shell with the finite element method, A new approach of element analysis named curved strip element method is proposed in this paper. The approach takes plane curved strip as an element and establishes the general equation of element stiffness matrix by using the method of elastic centre. For reference to structural design, the equations of parameters in the element stiffness matrix in case of the cross-sectional area of the plane curved strips varies according to cosine function and its centre line is circular, hyperbolic or elliptic are given.
