In hard turning applications, the superior load capacity and dynamics make a hydrostatic spindle a better choice than air bearings. Furthermore we have been pleasantly surprised at the level of accuracy in an inexpensive Haas lathe. We are planning more extensive tests in the future, where we will be cutting hardened tool steel.
