HYDROSTATIC BEARING FOR TURRET SPINDLE OF A TURRET LATHE

A hydrostatic bearing for turret spindle of a turret lathe comprising a bearing housing wherein four on pockets are provided at 90, apart, a turret spindle having a piston, a tool drum and a cross spider fixed thereon, the said turret spindle capable or being moved to left or right by pressure of oil on the corresponding sides of the said piston, a small clearance being provided between the turret spindle and the housing of the hydrostatic bearing through which the oil under pressure in the said pockets will leak through thereby creating a pressure drop and thus enabling the turret spindle to float in the hydrostatic bearing.
