A spindle unit of heavy-duty lathe with supplementary hydrostatic support contains hydrostatic radial bearings, a spindle with faceplate, under which supporting elements are located, an unit of control of the effort of clamping. Supplementary hydrostatic support under faceplate has two types of bearing surfaces, one type is with fixed clearance, and the second one is with adjustable gap, where the value of gap is controlled by the unit of control of the clamping effort and feed adjustment of supplementary hydrostatic support.
