The paper presents the cost optimum design of RC floor systems consisting of RCrnslab supported by beams of rectangular cross-section. The optimization was carriedrnout for spans from 3 to 8 m for variable uniformly distributed imposed load of 2 andrn5 kN/m~2 and for three different intermediate distances of the beams (4, 6 and 8 m).rnThe goal of the research was to find out for which intermediate distances of thernbeams, i.e. which arrangement will be the whole floor system the most economical.rnThe beams and slabs were designed in accordance with Eurocode 2 for both thernultimate and serviceability limit states.
