In recent years,thermoplastic composites reinforced with natural cellulose fibers have become significantly popular due to the ecological awareness and environmental concerns over synthetic materials.However,the elementary unit of cellulose contains three hydroxyl groups,which renders fibers hydrophilic[1].On the contrary,most of the thermoplastic polymeric matrices used for composites such as polyethylene (PE),polypropylene (PP),etc.have modest cohesive energies and are highly hydrophobic.
