ENVISAT VALIDATION RESULTS OBTAINED WITH LPMA AND IASI-BALLOONFTIR

A summary of the data acquired for Envisat validationrnduring several flights of the Limb Profile Monitor of thernAtmosphere (LPMA) instrument is presented. Thisrnballoon-borne Fourier transform spectrometer wasrnoperated in various optical configurations depending ofrnwhich Envisat instrument was the prime target forrnvalidation: LPMA (LWIR) for MIPAS, LPMA (SWIR)rnfor SCIAMACHY and MIPAS, LPMA (NIR) forrnSCIAMACHY and GOMOS. Profiles of O_3, CH_4, N_2O,rnand HNO3 have been compared with Envisat data.rnBalloon profiles of other species like NO_2, NO and COrnhave been retrieved but the corresponding Envisatrnproducts were nor yet available.rnIn cooperation with IUP/Bremen, we are in the processrnof calibrating the LPMA (SWIR) spectra to producernabsolute irradiance solar spectra in bands 7 (2.0 μm)rnand band 8 (2.3μm) of SCIAMACHY.
