While most scientific applications that require massively parallel machines use some flavor of UNIX as the operating system of choice, these powerful computers are not always required or available for visualization of the resulting data. For structured and unstructured data sets as used by the finite difference and finite element analysis software, it is very possible to visualize this data for element numbers approaching one million or more on desktop personal computers. Working in this heterogeneous environment requires visualization tools which are developed on one configuration, while executable on multiple platforms, with a consistent look-and-feel. To this end we have developed a framework utilizing Java and VTK (The Visualization Toolkit) for scientific visualization.
