Space-based navigation technical planning integrated product team 1997 overview

The huge success of GPS has proven the excpetional utility of space-based radio navigation. Both military and civilian users around the world exploit GPS for a myriad of applications, and the more they use the signals, the more they demand continual improvement of the system. This paper outlines the 1997 activities of the Space-Based Navigation Technical Planning Integrated Product Team (Nav TPIPT) in support of Air Force Modernization Planning Proces. In executing this process, the Nav TPIPT anticipates future customer requirements, identifies deficiencies in the current system, develops concepts solving the deficiencies, defines technical needs implementing the concepts, and guides laboratory research enabling the tech needs at the appropriate time. The Nav TPIPT records their work in a document called the Navigation Development Plan.
