In order to combine the inherent advantages of continuous suspension crystallization processes and teh usually batch-wise operated layer crystallization techniques the Granupure Process was newly invented in the field of melt crystallization. This process is operated continuously and consists of a granulation unit and a subsequent wash column. The granulation unit serves the production of granules out of an impure metl which are then fed to the wash column for post purification purposes. In order to assess the industrial potential of this process investigations on the influence of the parameter settings during granule production on the subsequent wash column purification were performed. inside a wash column the separation is effectuated by a combination of the steps crystallization, sweating and washing. For this reason all of these steps are investigated separately from each other under variation of the granulation parameters. The effect of these parameters on the purification efficiency will be subsequently shown on the example of sweating.
