CONTROL OF A PROCESS WITH AN ANALYZER IN THE FEEDBACK LOOP

The purpose of this paper is to arrive at 60me simple expressions for engineering evaluation of a controlled system with and without instrumentation dynamics in the feedback loop. By the use of these simple expressions one may estimate the relative gains to be expected if the dynamic characteristics of the feedback loop and /or the process can be altered in a known way, e.g., variations in analysis time, sampling rate and sampling transport time. The controller settings used for the various test conditions are given for use in estimating a first approximation for controller settings under similar field conditions.
