Last Fall, my university began an initiative to offerrncourses online in what many call a "distance learning"rnenvironment. Being an early adopter of the Internet andrnWWW in my traditional on-campus courses, I jumped atrnthe chance to offer a course in an on-line environment.rnThis paper will briefly explore the differences betweenrnon-campus and on-line education, discuss my approachrnfor implementing the course (including arncomparison/contrast of student perceptions andrnperformance in both on-campus and on-line sections ofrnthe same course), and conclude with some implicationsrnfor educators endeavoring to teach in a distance learningrnenvironment.
