SELECTING HIGH PERFORMANCE MAGNETIC COMPONENTS IN A COMPETITIVE MARKET

This manuscript will discuss the variables that are evaluated in the selection of a high performance magnetic component, and how these components can be marketed into a production situation with reduced lead time.rnForm, fit and function are the basic requirements for a specific transformer design to be streamlined. In addition to those factors, it is important to know how many units will be built and at what cost trade-offs are acceptable. While many design options exist, the examples that will be discussed are intended to illustrate some "non-standard" configurations which are cost effective in large volume consumer and heavy industrial applications where safety and producibility are critical considerations.
